Welcome to Sleepy Creek Farm!
Sleepy Creek Farm is owned by the Joubert family in peaceful Willamette Valley of Oregon. We raise New Zealand rabbits for meat, a variety of poultry for meat and eggs, and we raise swine seasonally. We enjoy growing our own vegetables, berries, fruit and flowers. Our large greenhouse keeps the winter blues away and gives a jump start to spring. We keep a string of horses and a mule for trail riding and packing into the Oregon backcountry during the summer and fall. Each year is a new experiment in agriculture with its success and its failures.
Why We Do the Things We Do.....
To keep it simple, we like good food. Good food comes fresh-grown, straight from the farm to the table. It has been said that there are two things which money can't buy: true love and home-canned tomatoes. Money can't measure the satisfaction of knowing that the meat on our dinner table came from animals that lived on locally grown feed, fresh air, and exercise. We also value the relationship between the earth, the animals, and our selves. Farming is a creative process with endless room for invention, experimentation and self-expression. Caring for plants and animals gives each day a sense of purpose. Even in the darkest days of winter, there is reason to get out of the house and breathe in the good, fresh air - those horse stalls don't clean themselves, you know!
